Goodbye 2011. It has been a year of blessings. I praise God that our soon to be adopted toddler was moved safely to our home this year. It seemed at times to be an impossible feat, but looking back, I can see God’s work in every step of the process.

I’ve been blessed to see my older children grow and develop. Stargirl is becoming quite the young woman. She has developed a confidence that I’ve never seen in her before. And Bug is trying to become a young man, but is stuck in between wanting to be young and wanting to be grown up. Typical of that age. I wish I could hold on to his boyhood, but I’m proud of the young man he’s becoming.

As for myself, I’ve had an up and down year. I’ve accomplished more than I ever thought I could with a new toddler in the house, homeschooling, and continuing to blog. But I haven’t grown as much in the areas where it matters. I all but dropped my quiet time, and too often I found myself reacting to circumstances, rather than planning for growth.

My hope for the new year is to be proactive, rather than reactive. Hopefully writing a journal will help me take time to reflect on what is important.

Though 2011 was a good year, I look forward to 2012 being even better.
