About Mary’s Secret Ingredients
Mary’s Secret Ingredients is a food box subscription service started by Mary Frances, author of the blog Love — The Secret Ingredient.
The subscription service was born out of a passion for healthy food and a desire to end world hunger.
Each gourmet food box is filled with fun ingredients, as well as a cooking tool to help cooks experiment in the kitchen.
Boxes are released four times a year and can either be bought with a yearly subscription or individually.
A yearly subscription gives you special perks like a discount over purchasing boxes individually, free shipping, eligibility for golden ticket items and exclusive sales, and extra box hints.
Why would you want hints? Well, the items contained in each Mary’s Secret Ingredients box are secret until you open you box! That’s part of the fun!
What I really love about Mary’s Secret Ingredients is that they give 10% of their proceeds to Feed the Children, an organization that fights hunger around the world.
I love supporting organizations that give back!
Mary’s Secret Ingredients boxes can be purchased on the Mary’s Secret Ingredients website for $34.00 individually, or you can join the M Club (the subscription service) for $108 a year.

My Experience with Mary’s Secret Ingredients
I received the Spring 2016 box to review. I have to tell you, opening it up felt a little bit like Christmas.
The Spring 2016 box contains:
- Just Jan’s Tangerine Marmalade
- Savory Choice Authentic Veggie Pho Liquid Broth Concentrate
- Sir Kensington’s Dijonnaise
- The Tea Spot Meditative Mind Sachets
- Joseph Joseph Rocker 100 Stainless Steel Garlic Crusher
- 100 Cups a Day Special Edition Tea Cup
Each of the ingredients in the box is high quality. The Dijonnaise, for instance, is made with free range eggs and is non-GMO certified. The veggie broth concentrate contains no MSG.
The only ingredients in the tangerine marmalade are pure cane sugar, tangerine juice and peel, natural fruit pectin, and citric acid.
Like I said — quality ingredients.
And the garlic rocker…it’s going to transform my use of garlic in the kitchen! I have a traditional garlic press, but I find it hard to clean.
But the garlic rocker? Just press down on the garlic clove, and the cloves are minced and collected right on top of the rocker. You just scoop the garlic right off the rocker onto your food!
So is the box worth $34? I would say so!

Tangerine Marmalade Filled Oatmeal Muffins Recipe
These muffins, which use Just Jan’s Tangerine Marmalade, taste great for breakfast — especially when you pair them with The Tea Spot Meditative Mind Tea!
- 1⅓ cups all purpose flour
- ¾ cup rolled oats (not instant)
- ⅓ cup sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- ¼ tsp. salt
- 1 beaten egg
- ¾ cup milk
- ¼ cup cooking oil
- 6 TBSP Just Jan's Tangerine Marmalade
- Preheat oven to 400°.
- Grease a 12 cup muffin tin or line with paper muffin cups.
- In a large bowl, mix together flour, oats, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, combine egg, milk, and oil. When combined, add all at once to dry ingredients and stir until just moistened.
- Drop 1 Tbsp. of batter into each muffin cup and spread so it covers the bottom of the cup.
- Drop ½ Tbsp. marmalade onto batter. Top marmalade with more batter, filling each cup evenly.
- Gently run a knife around the edge of the batter in each muffin cup to seal the marmalade in the center of the muffin as much as possible. (There may be some leakage.)
- Bake in preheated oven approximately 20 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm.
